November 2022 - Bass Design + Snare Design

The first of this bundle's tutorials I show you guys whats on my fx send busses and how i like to use them, not only are they perfect workflow tools but also a way to quickly colour, distort and enhance your tracks. 

For the second tutorial, i wanted to get more creative behind how to make fxs, more specifically uplifters and downshifters. For years i just searched riser in my sample library and ended up with the same bland and overused sample. I teach you the fundamentals of synthesising your own samples that goes way beyond just pitching up and down.

The first tutorial in this bundle is about making music from noise, learn to craft atmospheric noise and then tune it to become a unique playable instrument.

The second focusses on making a simple mid bass patch inside of Serum that has plenty of control through macros and LFO's and post processing to completely change the sound for those mid bass progressions

For the first tutorial i went back in some ideas from last months tutorial and started to make drums this time from noise too. I show some really creative tips to enhance your drums from a foley recording. 

For the second tutorial I talk about subs and low mid harmonics going over how to create a strong harmonic, separating tracks and further processing for even more accuracy and clarity to your mix.

For the first tutorial, I dive even further into my processes for being randomly creative to develop new and interesting mid bass ideas. 

The second tutorial is about creative sampling and how I use inspiration from the music around me and take it to another level way beyond its origins.

In this bundle I once again looking at sub bass but this time focussing it all about movement, how to give your basslines groove, funk and swing for those head bouncing tracks. 

For the second tutorial we're going to get very experimental. I show off some techniques that can really transform a sound from it origin to a whole other level. This is one of my favourite topics as it can be so free with no rules and is always a lot of fun.

This month i show you techniques for processing mid bass, i start with a basic sound transforming it into something truly evil. This technique can be used over and over again with samples and synths for complex modulations.

For the second tutorial I give you and overview of my latest remix for Ekou Recordings talking about what i look for and how i approach remix stems then into a full view into how i made the track

Kicking this bundles tutorials off focussing on mid / side processing, this has been requested a lot so i've put this together explaining what mid/side means, how to listen out for it, how to analyse it and how to correct it for a more balanced mix.

The second tutorial looks at my Ableton template project and how i start writing music. This has been a game changer for me as a lot of my mix issues started from day 1. I talk about mixdown sidechaining, gain staging and the theory behind this setup.

For this bundles tutorials I take a look back over my track 'Front Left' showing you a breakdown of the sub and mid bass focussing on the progression, creation and arrangement.

The second tutorial is about chopping and processing classic breaks for that old school rhythm and style. 

I wanted to focus on drums this month specifically with a loose and funky groove tutorial using sample placement and synthesising hi hats and shuffles.

The second tutorial shows how to tighten, transform and tame your kick drums using samples.

This month I have two really exciting tutorials for you, starting with bass design and my workflow during sound design sessions.

Inside this bundle are two special tutorials, the first is how to process and resample terrible unwanted vocal samples into something completely unique and way more exciting for your track.

The second is about mixdowns, I load up a dubstep track and guide you step by step on how i approach cleaning, sharpening and boosting this track to play out in the clubs

For this month's tutorial I walk you through a simple pad layering technique to create rich and full music beds with interesting movement and dynamics using just one sample.

I use this technique a lot when building intro's and is a great way of adding complexity to an otherwise basic sound

This months tutorial is titled 'Glueing Sections' where i take you through 3 different simple but effective techniques to help seamlessly progress from one section to another using fills, risers, fx automation and adding space.

You can hear similar sounds and techniques across my music and are go to methods when stuck on how to progress my track and further develop my ideas.

For this month I go in depth discussing macro's and how to make simple things complex making a reverb / riser chain to create atmosphere and space with just one knob control.

This is an amazing workflow as well as creative tool offering the simplicity of being able to just automate one line for instant space, width and tension to your track.

This tutorial is about making subs inside of Serum. Through a simple set up ill guide you on how to give your subs depth and warmth as well as layering the synth.

Altering the controls on the layered version will alter the timbre of your lower mid harmonics to create exciting new modulations and dynamics

Inside this tutorial i will be going over how i make stabs and knocks using both synthesis and sample based techniques. Both are used heavily in my production from the knocks in my tracks Speed Shades and Magnum Meal, and are super fun to play around with.

Altering small settings each time can cause really interesting results that are perfect for adding rhythm to a track or emphasising a kick or snares power in the track

For this tutorial I wanted to create a drum beat from start to finish covering topics such as sample selection; picking out the right hits for tonality and layering, dynamics; how to humanise your drums, levelling and retaining transients; to make sure your drums are well balanced and peaking through the mix.

This tutorial is perfect for beginners and veterans who want to dig deeper into how i approach my drums

For this tutorial I wanted to progress last months drum tutorial by creating a song from a simple idea and taking it all the way through to a full track.

You will see how I approach creating progressional ideas to keep the track interesting and evolving as well as arrangement to have clear and concise flow from start to finish
